Superfoods are nutrient-packed foods that should be incorporated into our everyday diet as often as possible. They are high in vitamins and minerals which allow for our bodies to function at their highest potential. While some superfoods are proteins (such as fish) and dairy products (such as yogurt) which may be avoided by people on certain diets such as vegetarian or keto, there are plenty of superfoods that can be enjoyed by all. (This list does not take into account food allergies or preferences).
Olive Oil – basically the food of all foods. Olive oil is packed with antioxidants and micronutrients that are great for your body. Use it with all of your daily meals, cooked or raw.
Berries – also packed with antioxidants, berries are the earth’s natural candy. Put them on your breakfast, in your salad, or eat them for dessert.
Leafy Greens – no matter what your specific diet is, you should be eating plenty of greens! Fiber, calcium, vitamin A and vitamin C are all beneficial qualities of leafy green vegetables.
Nuts – so many to choose from and each with distinct textures and flavors, nuts are a great source of plant protein for any diet.
Tomatoes – are high in vitamin C and lycopene which decreases your risk of prostate cancer. Tomatoes can be eaten raw or used as the base for delicious sauces, soups, and stews.
